Which mythic figure lent its name to a British airport until 2016?
Until recently, the storied thief who stole from the rich to give to the poor had a modern-day airport named after him in Doncaster, Yorkshire. Founded as Finningley Airfield and used by the British Flying Corps during World War I, the British airport reopened for commercial use in 2005 under the name Robin Hood Airport. However, the name was short-lived, and it was renamed Doncaster Sheffield Airport in 2016.
